Catherine Kerr (graduate student, Fehr lab) was awarded a Ferguson RISE Fellowship (Public Health Leadership Training Program in Baltimore from May 29-July 27) and the KU Ida Hyde Award.

 

Kade Townsend (undergraduate student, Chandler lab), was one of only five undergraduates at the University of Kansas to win the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship. Kade Townsend’s research project is focused on regulation of antibiotic resistance in the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

 

Cheyenne Loo (undergraduate student, Chandler lab) was awarded the Undergraduate Biology Paul Kitos award for excellence in biology. Cheyenne’s research project is focused on bacterial communication and “competition sensing” in soil bacteria.

 

Jessica Pfannenstiel (undergraduate student, Fehr lab) was awarded the Paul Kitos Undergraduate Research Award and a Self-Scholarship.

 

Emily Giri (undergraduate student, Fehr lab) was awarded the Paul Kitos Undergraduate Research Award.

 

Darren Boydston (PREP student, Neufeld lab) was awarded a 2022 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship. This fall he will be starting his PhD studies in Cell, Molecular, Developmental Biology and Biophysics in a Graduate Partnership Program between Johns Hopkins and the NIH.
