Unckless Lab hosted science night for local farmers

On the evening of September 29th, the Unckless Lab hosted a group of Kansas farmers to demonstrate the use of three different types of microscopes. This group of individuals was brought together due to a shared grant between Drs. Stuart Macdonald, John Kelly and Robert Unckless, that requires collecting thousands of fruit flies, and one of the farmers (red shirt) volunteered his farm.

Todd Farmer (postdoc), Ashley Bentz (technician), Brian Ackley (Professor) and Robert Unckless (Professor) demonstrated the use of three different types of microscopes (dissecting, compound, and confocal). They looked at fruit flies, worms and some prepared slides, but also some samples the farmers brought with them.

Thanks to Kelly Matsunaga and Jennifer Hueston for slides and scopes.
