One-KU collaborative research award funds viral research

Tony Fehr (Professor, KU Molecular Biosciences), Michael Washburn (Professor, KUMC Cancer Biology), David Davido (Professor, KU Molecular Biosciences), and Michaella Rekowski (Research Assistant Professor, KUMC Cancer Biology) received a One-KU Collaborative Research Award titled “Identification of PARP1 ADP-ribosylation sites during infection.”  The goal of this project is to develop the methodology needed to identify precisely where PARP1 modifies its target proteins. The long-term goal is to characterize the ADP-ribosylome of PARP1 in the context of infection which could provide mechanistic insights into how ADP-ribosylation is utilized by host cells to control virus infection.
