NIH Grant Awarded
LAWRENCE -- Ilya Vakser, professor and director of Computational Biology Program and Center for Computational Biology and professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences, was awarded $147,000 in Equipment Supplement grant for the NIH R01 project, Integrated Resource for Protein Recognition Studies.
This grant will allow for the purchase of computer hardware, which will facilitate Vakser’s efforts in AI-assisted modeling of cellular processes. “The project will help advance our understanding of molecular interactions in living cells and facilitate development of better tools for their modeling. The new computers purchased through this grant will allow us to keep pace with the rapidly evolving computing needs of the expanding project, including applications of new AI methodologies.” Vakser wrote.
The proposed research will facilitate development of modeling techniques capable of delivering starting points for structure-based drug design and will be conducted at KU and supported by KU Center for Research Computing and KU Data Center.
