Five-year grant to fund study of coronavirus and impacts on the body’s ability to heighten anti-viral defenses

Tony Fehr, Associate Professors of Molecular Biosciences, was awarded a $2.2M, five-year R35 grant from the NIH National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The project titled “Determining mechanisms of innate immune modulation by ADP-ribosylation” aims to further determine the mechanisms used by PARP enzymes to repress coronavirus RNA and protein production and enhance interferon production.
